2014 Microsoft Partner of the Year Award winner: CommVault

US-based data and information management software company CommVault has been recognised as Microsoft’s Server Platform Partner of the Year Award Winner for its Simpana solution.

Predicated on Windows Server and Microsoft Azure tiered storage and compute capabilities, the solution simplifies comprehensive and heterogeneous data management. It enables the company’s 20,000 customers to reduce overall storage costs by 80% and gain a 90% return on investment. OnWindows spoke to Greg White, CommVault’s director of product marketing, to find out what the accolade means to the company

Tell me a little bit about your company and what you do.
CommVault was launched 17 years ago to provide organisations with a better and more efficient way to protect, manage and access their information, as well as to gain business value from their data with less cost and complexity. We are a publicly traded data and information management software company that offers one product – our single-platform Simpana software. Customers choose us because our patented Solving Forward philosophy helps them to meet today’s challenges and prepare for what they will face in the future. We deliver complete, modern and massively scalable solutions that span the data centre to endpoints in the cloud, covering backup, archive, search, replication, analytics and application integration.

Congratulations on winning the award. What does this accolade mean to your company?
There are a couple key areas that make us especially proud about winning this award and that are meaningful to our current and potential customers. The award validates the hard work CommVault has put into developing a partnership with Microsoft over the last 15 years. The partnership spans development, sales, support and marketing, enabling us to deliver one of the most innovative and efficient data management platforms for Microsoft environments. Secondly, the award recognises the capabilities Simpana software brings for enhancing data protection, management and on-premise access to Windows, Microsoft Azure Compute and Azure Storage capabilities. It also acknowledges the fact the solution can be used in hybrid networks that span from the data centre to the cloud.

What competencies did you have to demonstrate to be a contender?
CommVault was selected as the 2014 Server Platform Partner of the Year because we provide technology that can dramatically transform our customers’ server infrastructures and result in increased levels of scalability, availability and reliability, while streamlining operational efficiency.

How are you applying these competencies to help your customers solve their business challenges?
Through the Simpana software, CommVault helps its customers to increase the reliability and flexibility of Microsoft-based server infrastructures. This enables them to make better business decisions and improve data protection and management, while saving them time and money.
