Docks Logistics has increased productivity across its border control operations by 30 per cent by migrating its on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure and deploying a new web positioning system, which was developed in collaboration with Microsoft partner Encamina.

The new system, known as SISPOWEB, integrates with daily operations and serves as a daily tool for the Spanish logistics company, its agencies, customers and port authorities. According to Microsoft, “the scalable and robust solution provides greater fluidity and security to the data and has great flexibility to manage a multitude of users.”

“We have simplified the maintenance of the infrastructure with the capacity to scale resources to adapt to demand and we have increased security by having all the security tools in Azure,” said Laura Navarro, director of the SISPOWEB development project. “We now have better application monitoring tools, which allows us to have a better response time and be proactive in resolving any incident.”

The move to the cloud has also enabled Docks Logistics to improve its sustainability, with Microsoft’s data centres providing firms with a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 98 per cent compared to on-premises infrastructure.

“Microsoft has been our partner for many years in different services including operating systems for users and servers, productivity with Microsoft 365, .Net development and Azure cloud infrastructure,” said Hassan Ahmed, director of the border control division at Docks. “It was critical for us to have a partner whose core business was to help with seamless integration between all of our needs, adding security and stability. In addition, being able to have state-of-the-art tools such as artificial intelligence to guarantee data privacy was another key factor for us.”
