Accellion secures information sharing

Accellion has launched the first secure file transfer solution for the Microsoft Business Productivity Infrastructure (BPI) and Business Productivity Online Suite allowing Microsoft SharePoint, Office Communications Server (OCS) and Outlook users to easily and securely share digital information.

This extends the Accellion solution to include new plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook 2010, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and Microsoft OCS 2007 R2 for both on-premise and cloud environments.

Accellion plug-ins for Outlook, SharePoint and OCS enable business users to securely send files to co-workers, remote users, customers or partners from within the Microsoft business applications.

“Quick and easy access to information is essential for business collaboration, but protection of intellectual property and meeting compliance requirements is crucial,” said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. “By integrating the Accellion Secure File Transfer solution across Microsoft’s BPI, enterprise organisations can now protect their intellectual property and achieve compliance by providing users with an easily accessible way to move confidential digital information.”

Accellion enhances the communications and collaboration experience provided within Microsoft SharePoint, OCS and Outlook experience by seamlessly adding secure file transfer capability to the native file transfer capability provided within these products.

The Accellion Secure File Transfer solution allows enterprises and government agencies to securely send and receive files and folders up to 20 gigabyte. Encryption and business-level authentication validates recipients so confidential information is not overexposed. Accellion Secure File Transfer also provides an audit trail with the tracking and reporting necessary to demonstrate compliance. The Accellion Secure File Transfer solution integrates both on-premise and off-premise deployment options for cloud and virtual environments, which work together seamlessly.

Accellion will be demonstrating secure file transfer plug-ins for Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Communications Server and Microsoft Outlook at Microsoft TechEd North America 2010 in New Orleans on 7 – 10 June 2010.
