23 October 2006
Altana Chemie, an international chemicals group, and Accenture signed a three-year outsourcing agreement under which Accenture will manage Altana Chemie's global IT service desk across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas and China. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Accenture will provide IT service desk support for 34 Altana Chemie production facilities and 42 research and service laboratories worldwide. Altana Chemie also selected Accenture to coordinate and provide support for SAP application maintenance. Accenture will support approximately 3,000 IT users and about 2,000 SAP users around the world and provide services in English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish.
"We chose to partner with Accenture based on its proven track record in IT outsourcing, service-desk and application maintenance, its global footprint, its deep knowledge of the chemical industry, and its fit and alignment with Altana Chemie's culture and values," said Bernhard Koch, head of IT at the company.
