Albany helps manage payroll services

Employer Services, a managed payroll services provider, has gone live with the ALBACSbureau cs payments platform from developer of electronic payment software solutions, Albany Software.

The payments solution enables the bureau to strengthen back-office processes and upgrade its data recovery strategy for the one million Bacs submissions processed annually.

“As a bureau, Employer Services requires a vendor who understands that we are acting on behalf of our clients and processing millions of payroll submissions,” said Virginia Freeman, Service Operations Director at Employer Services. We feel that Albany appreciates the intricacies of our business.”

The Albany solution will enable Employer Services to stay at the forefront of payment platform solutions.

Through comprehensive reporting functions and by streamlining back-office processes with the introduction of automated data pooling and validation, the ALBACSbureau cs solution enables Employer Services to maintain greater control over payment operations.

“Achieving high levels of automation in order to streamline the workflow, without compromising the validation process, is critical for bureaux,” added Freeman. “Previously, the payments process was largely manual and resource-hungry, so adding automation through ALBACSbureau cs is a key benefit for us and is already contributing to major time savings.

“We have also installed a Hardware Security Module (HSM) that works alongside the ALBACSbureau cs solution, ensuring that payments are approved by the relevant level of authorisation in a timely fashion. With payment information passing through the HSM we can feel more secure with our processes, and confident that we are being thorough on behalf of our clients.”

Commenting on the positive impact of the system on internal processes, Freeman added: “The time savings achieved are substantial, and the system has prompted us to review and improve all of our processes. In fact, the level of automation achieved has now freed up a member of staff so that their time can be spent contributing to the business and developing our infrastructure further.”

Employer Services has also invested in the Disaster Recovery module from Albany Software, ensuring that data is secure and readily retrievable. “Through Albany we have upgraded and improved our disaster recovery strategy, helping us protect our client’s data.” Freeman concluded. “The Albany solution will enable Employer Services to stay at the forefront of payment platform solutions. We will be looking to add Faster Payments capabilities later this year, as well as migrating to a Web-based solution when it becomes available.”

ALBACScs runs in a Windows environment.
