Atos Origin has become a global reseller of the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite. Already one of Microsoft’s enterprise alliance partners, the company says the move shows its determination to pursue investments in cloud computing and SaaS-related activities. By providing this suite, which includes Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Office Communications Online and Microsoft Office Live Meeting, Atos Origin reckons it will be able to provide customers with a choice on how to use and manage software. “The Business Productivity Online Suite offering helps customers to reduce their operational cost through streamlined software and services delivery, making it a strong addition to our strategic offering ‘the Adaptive Workplace’, a family of solutions that offer flexibility and cost savings while enabling workforce efficiency through a standardized IT workplace environment, be that the desk bound employee or the remote worker," said Dominique Rérat, Atos Origin’s senior vice president for innovation and business development. "We started working with Microsoft Online Services a year ago and are happy to be part of the innovation that the Business Productivity Online Suite and Microsoft’s software plus services strategy is driving.” Atos Origin’s ‘Adaptive Workplace’ offering provides desktop and end-user support services. The company says these services allow users to work anywhere, anyplace, and at anytime and have achieved cost reductions up to 40 per cent on workplace management costs. Atos Origin currently manages more than 700,000 desktops and 20,000 servers.
