Cactus offers online Olympic presence

Cactus Commerce has launched an e-commerce site for Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, the official Canadian broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Based on Cactus’ CommerceLive solution, the site will offer the Canadian broadcaster an interactive and robust online presence as part of a multi-tiered e-commerce strategy.

Dan Cimoroni, Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium The solution, built on Microsoft tools and technologies including Commerce Server 2009 and SharePoint Server 2007, is a B2C cross channel e-commerce solution that delivers pre-packaged advantages with customer-specific flexibility. It enabled the broadcaster to launch the e-commerce site quickly and offered a solution that could fit in with other marketing and merchandising activities.
The online store, in both English and French, offers Olympic merchandise including hats, scarves and a commemorative DVD box set. The Believe apparel on sale in the stores was originally created as a promotional prop for TV and online campaigns but due to strong consumer demand these items are now available for sale online. A portion of all sales from the merchandcise will go towards supporting Canadian athletes at the 2010 Olympics.

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium will provide comprehensive coverage of the Winter Olympics in a record 22 languages.
The 2010 Winter Olympics will take place 12-28 February in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and will be the third time the country has hosted the event.
