Cricket club bowled over with new payments system

Welsh cricket club Glamorgan has selected a Servebase payments solution for its new ticketing system at the 16,000-capacity SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.

With expected ticket sales of 250,000 per annum, the club wanted an on-line payment process with clear and concise management reporting facilities that would allow them to process credit card transactions.

The Audience View ticketing system, built using the latest Microsoft technologies, is accessed via the internet, where supporters enter their card details into the system, which then passes the information automatically to the Servebase hosted server over a secure network, processing the transactions in real-time. The Payment Card Industry-accredited server then validates the data and carries out the authorisation process via the clubs chosen acquirer. Address Verification and the three digit code are also checked for added on-line security against credit card fraud.

“The new system was successfully implemented in time for the first match of the 2008 cricket season,” said Peter Ghattas of Glamorgan Cricket Club. “The new system provides easier financial reporting than our previous one.”

“We are delighted to have secured Glamorgan Cricket Club as a new client,” said Julian Wallis, senior business development manager for Servebase. “This follows a successful implementation at The Rose Bowl, home of Hampshire Cricket Club earlier this year, and adds to our ever increasing collection of sporting venues.

“As tickets are released for new events, the ability to handle high volume card processing in a short space of time is essential for this market,” Wallis continued. “By utilising our Host EFT service the venues automatically link into our shared high-speed bank connection, which increases efficiency and saves them time and money.”
