DS launches latest aerospace solution

Dassault Systèmes is launching its latest aerospace and defence industry solution, named Co-Design to Target.
In a complex industry, meeting budget, schedule and specification targets can be problematic, and the design phases of programmes are often affected by disconnected workflows, disparate solutions across a programme’s ecosystem and unpredictable changes.
Co-Design to Target aims to help companies ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with the original objectives.
“One of the consistent challenges we see in the aerospace and defence industry is the need to deliver programmes as promised. Companies have a vested interest to ensure their programmes are not delivered over budget or under specification or behind schedule,” said Monica Menghini, executive vice president of Industry & Marketing, Dassault Systèmes. “Our goal with Co-Design to Target is to provide an industry solution experience that delivers new levels of engineering productivity and the execution control to deliver programmes as promised.”
Features of the solution include a real-time view of programme status, meaning Co-Design to Target enables users to track cost, schedule, workload, risk, performance and opportunity. Designers and architects can work in the context of traditional digital mock-up and functional mock-up, as the solution delivers a more complete and true-to-life programme definition to orchestrate requirements, systems and structures. The solution also features integrated engineering value streams, from design and simulation to part fabrication planning and resource programming preparation activities.
One successful example is Bell Helicopter, who has worked with Dassault Systèmes to help with the development of their range of aircraft. “The successful development of the 525 Relentless aircraft is a reflection of Bell Helicopter’s close partnership with Dassault Systèmes,” said Bennie Peek, CIO, Bell Helicopter. “The use of Dassault Systèmes technology has been critical to our ability to execute the 525 Programme on target. Our partnership with Dassault Systèmes will certainly continue as we expand deployment of Dassault Systèmes solutions to new programmes.”
