Diskeeper gets Hyper-V stripes
2 September 2008
Diskeeper 2008 is one of the first three applications, out of 175 currently certified for Windows Server 2008, to earn the Hyper-V designation. Diskeeper also recently entered a partnership with VMware, a pioneer in virtualisation technology.
Diskeeper says that its most recent product is designed to patch up what it describes as the chink in virtualisation’s armour: virtual disks are uniquely susceptible to fragmentation and its capsizing effects.
The company says that defragmentation of VMware and Hyper-V hosted Windows operating systems ensures optimised I/O traffic is generated by every virtual machine, which in turn should increase performance and reliability for the entire infrastructure.
“After independent testing, we found that Diskeeper’s automatic defragmenter not only exploits Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V capabilities, but is also designed to meet mission-critical expectations in a virtualised environment,” said Eric Jewett, Windows Server marketing group product manager at Microsoft.
Diskeeper’s InvisiTasking technology transparently fixes fragmentation as it occurs, whenever idle resources are available, thus maintaining peak system performance and eliminating computer slow downs.
A free trial version of Diskeeper 2008 is available at the Diskeeper Web site.
