HTWC joins Mainframe Migration Alliance
20 April 2008
Italian firm HTWC has joined the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA), a group of companies working to help customers migrate mission-critical mainframe workloads onto the Microsoft platform.
This follows HTWC's announcement in September 2007 that its industry leading mainframe rehosting solution, XFRAME, is now available on the Windows Server platform.
“We're excited to welcome HTWC to the MMA,” said Spyros Sakellariadis, director, Mainframe and Midrange Alliance Programs at Microsoft. “HTWC recently launched XFRAME on Windows and we hope it will be seen as a practical way to rehost a variety of mainframe applications, including CICS, IMS, and batch. Many companies are looking for more cost-effective alternatives to the mainframe and the MMA provides a single source to find the best migration solutions available.”
Today, many CEOs and IT managers are looking for different strategies to solve the issue of spiralling mainframe costs. More and more, mainframe rehosting is being seen as the best alternative for low-cost, low-risk migration. “With the addition of Windows as a target platform, XFRAME offers the broadest feature set available, allowing us to make legacy migration relatively easy,” said Marco Grossi, General Manager of HTWC. “Our migration experience goes back to 1979, and since that time, we have remained focused on providing our customers with the best legacy modernisation tools on the market. Joining the MMA allows us to deliver that message in a very effective way.”
