Iconics releases 64-bit SCADA suite

Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Iconics has released its new 64-bit-based, OPC-integrated, Web-enabled HMI/SCADA suite, Genesis64.

Iconics was an early partner in Microsoft’s development of the new Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 operating systems, integrating the operating systems’ features into its new HMI/Scada and business visualisation solutions and receiving the 2007 Microsoft Trailblazer of the Year Award, as well as the 'Certified for Windows Vista' and 'Certified for Windows Server 2008' designations.

“We’re pleased to see Iconics focus on integrating the powerful features of Windows Vista, such as Windows Presentation Foundation into their solution,” said Robert Doi, Vista group product marketing manager with Microsoft. “Iconics and Genesis64 are helping to drive Windows Vista‘s adoption and are enhancing the user experience for industrial automation users.”

The Genesis64 suite includes several modular solutions that simplify connectivity from the plant floor to corporate business systems. Designed from the ground up to take maximum advantage of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, .NET and SharePoint technology, it allows plant operators and IT professionals to integrate real-time manufacturing and business information into a common, Web-enabled visualisation dashboard.

Genesis64 is comprised of GraphWorX64, TrendWorX64, AlarmWorX64, EarthWorX and the Workbench Web-based development, deployment and operations products.

The largest cost of any automation project is in engineering the application. For an average project, this can be well over 60 per cent of the total expenditure. Taking advantage of 64-bit computer can greatly reduce this effort, resulting in enormous savings and helping a company’s bottom line.

“Genesis64 is the first product for manufacturing and automation to take full advantage of the growing popularity of 64-bit computing technology,” said Russ Agrusa, president and CEO of Iconics. Iconics says customers will benefit from tie-ins to new Microsoft technology including Windows Presentation Foundation, 3D Hardware-accelerated Visualisation, Windows Communications Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, Sidebars/Gadgets/Sideshow, OPC Unified Architecture, User Account Control Persistence, Windows Vista Search & Organise, Vista-enhanced Virtual Earth, and .NET-managed Code Design.
