Ikea succeeds with Microsoft and LS Retail

IKEA has opened a new store in Athens, Greece, using technology from Microsoft Dynamics and LS Retail, implemented by K3 Landsteinar

The fully integrated retail ERP solution spans across the complete operation including finance, range management, logistics, customer service, check-outs, restaurants and cafes.

On opening day, 26 March, the new IKEA store celebrated with 25,000 visitors, 7,930 sales transactions and 23,000 items sold in the restaurant and the Swedish food market.

The new store is 25,000 sq m and is located in the centre of Athens, only five kilometres from the Acropolis. In addition to the large showrooms and a warehouse, the new store includes four restaurants, two cafes and two Swedish food markets. This is the third Ikea store in Greece operated by Fourlis Group, the Ikea franchisee in Greece. Fourlis also has an Ikea store in Cyprus and is planning to open one in Bulgaria in 2009.
