Largest Microsoft ERP win in Australia

Microsoft has signed its largest ever enterprise resource planning (ERP) win in Australia with the Brisbane-based Hastings Deering.
Microsoft will deploy Dynamics AX 2012 to 10,000 users to the supplier of Caterpillar heavy equipment, which is part of Malaysia's Sime Darby Group.
The multi-million dollar deal, which delivers the end-to-end system across 10 countries, is part of a wider transformation project to meet the demands of the mining and resources boom and support its future growth.

John Birch , Hastings Deering Hastings Deering CIO, John Birch said that the company plans to double its workforce within the next two to three years and is expecting substantial growth in the next 18 months to reach its goal of becoming a three billion dollar business.
Birch added the company was looking to adopt a unified and easy-to-use solution that could be adapted to the needs of the business and selected the Microsoft ERP solution over SAP.
He commented: “Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 will empower our employees to be more productive while enabling us to derive the insights necessary to respond quickly in an ever-changing world of business.”
Xapt, a specialist Dynamics partner will provide specific Dynamics modules and heavy equipment domain knowledge while Microsoft’s Consulting Services Division will provide implementation services.
The project is expected to be rolled out in phases and will take around 28 months to complete.
Hastings Deering has over 23 branches, 26 sub-branches and more than 4,000 employees.
