Manufacturing Strategies Summit announced

The fourth European Manufacturing Strategies Summit will take place 6-9 October 2008 at Swissôtel, Düsseldorf in Germany.

The four-day event begins with two tours taking place in Leipzig. One at DHL’s new flagship Air Hub for a demonstration of the latest logistics principles being implemented and the other at BMW’s state of the art production plant where cutting edge best practice and technology is being used to maximise output and manufacturing efficiency.

The tours are followed by a three-day summit including keynote sessions, panel discussions and vendor-led interactive workshops, as well as a networking model of pre-arranged, private one-to-one meetings.

The speaking panel includes the following confirmed guests: Jürgen Krüger, directorate general for economic and financial affairs, European Commission; Christopher Game, head of technical operations sourcing, Novartis; Alan McLenaghan, managing director, Saint Gobain Glass UK; and Martin Smith, CI/quality director, Lear Corp.

For the first time the event also includes the Strategic Manufacturing Awards. Held in conjunction with Manufacturing Business Technology magazine and supported by Manufacturing Insights and the Institute of Engineering and Technology, the awards have been created to reward best practice within Europe’s manufacturing community.
