Microsoft is showcasing its new software-plus-services platform with the launch of the Live Mesh Technology Preview.

Live Mesh uses the Internet as a hub to connect users to the information, applications, people and devices that are most important to them. Microsoft aims to provide unified device, application and data management that can be personalised and centralised, enabling the remote control of users’ devices.

“The Technology Preview provides access to the foundational experience that exposes the core functionality and common gestures of the platform,” said general manager Amit Mital. “We started with a vision of creating an open, comprehensive and accessible platform that enables developers to tackle increasingly complex problems no matter the device, connection or experience. We’re achieving these design goals by combining the power of ‘cloud services,’ with the convenience and rich experience of your many devices.”
