NCR transforms branch sales

Microsoft Surface responds to touch, gestures and objects placed on the surface

NCR has demonstrated what it believes to be the future of in-branch sales application processes at the BAI Retail Delivery Conference and Expo in Orlando. NCR, a global technology company, has used its knowledge of the financial services industry to integrate a variety of devices, such as PIN pads and contactless readers, with Microsoft’s Surface technology to allow multiple users to interact using touch, gestures and object placement.

The concept unit is designed to encourage branch employees to spend more time with customers discussing their investment needs and less time filling out forms. All of this will take place without the use of paper and pens – or even a mouse and keyboard. NCR envisions that a customer will be able to walk into a bank, see a loan product, download the details onto their mobile phone using a near field communications chip, engage a sales consultant, transfer details over the phone, and then sign the application electronically.

“We know our bank customers want faster and easier ways to conduct transactions,” said Mark Grossi, vice president of Advanced Development at NCR. “This prototype demonstrates how assisted service technology will continue to enhance interactions between banks and their customers.”
