New Windows Phone 8 smartphone
7 December 2012
Nokia has introduced its third Windows Phone 8 smartphone – the Nokia Lumia 620, which is the cheapest of its offerings.
The Nokia Lumia 620 includes NFC capabilities for mobile payments, which are secured using the Wallet application in Windows Phone 8.
The new smartphone has a five megapixel main camera and VGA front-facing camera and comes with Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport, Nokia City Lens and Nokia Music.
"With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices.
The Nokia Lumia 620 is estimated to be priced at US$249 and will begin selling in January 2013 in Asia, followed closely by Europe and the Middle East before expanding further.
Nokia previously released the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 on Windows Phone 8, which Microsoft launched at the end of October.
