Online presence for RBI with EpiServer

A leading business-to-business publisher Reed Business Information (RBI) has chosen EpiServer to help redevelop and manage content for its existing Web sites as well develop new ones. EpiServer’s content management system (CMS) will ultimately enable RBI to deliver news and content faster and more efficiently to its customers.

“The CMS market is highly competitive and it initially proved to be quite difficult to distinguish between the various vendors’ offerings,” said Dan Olley, IT director at RBI. “However, it’s clear that EpiServer has spent a great deal of time and effort on the big issue that most companies want to address: ensuring that non-technical people can instantly build and manage online content without having to involve a developer in every task.”

After the initial look and feel of an RBI site is established by internal developers on the EpiServer platform, new sites can be quickly created. Each individual site’s owners will be responsible for updating and uploading new content as well as quickly configuring page layouts with the drag and drop functionality using X3. This in turn enables individual RBI product owners to have complete control of their online presence. RBI also wanted a Microsoft .NET solution because of the investment and expertise it already has in this technology.

Peter Larsson, chief executive officer of EpiServer, said: “RBI has joined a host of other organisations – large and small – who know that having a professional looking and engaging Web site which can be easily, quickly and cost-effectively developed and updated is more important than ever.”
