Ronal standardises CAD/CAM system
29 November 2012
Swiss manufacturer of alloy wheels Ronal has selected Siemens’ NX software as its primary computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system.
The CAD system is to be used throughout tool development and production to reduce lead times.
Ronal’s decision to deploy NX in tool development and production will continue to improve both the quality and efficiency of its products
Michael Obst, Siemens Ronal’s NX deployment means that it will use a single system for CAD and CAM, making it easier for tool development and tool production functions to work together. NX will also enable Ronal to adapt to the latest product developments and run real-time manufacturing simulations.
NX will be implemented throughout the entire tool development area in one year enabling Ronal to handle its entire process with a single system, as opposed to individual solutions. The integrated system will provide better access to data to make processes leaner and more efficient.
This is essential when designing and developing parts for vehicles, according to Michael Obst, CEO at Siemens Industry Software in Switzerland.
With a full rollout planned for completion by 2016, Ronal expects NX to boost overall productivity, reduce costs and minimise risk in the design, manufacturing simulation and production of tooling.
Obst said: “Ronal’s decision to deploy NX in tool development and production will continue to improve both the quality and efficiency of its products.”
