SunGard joins Windows 8 revolution

With the introduction of the Windows 8 platform and its mobile counterpart Windows Phone 8, Microsoft is set to power a new generation of tablet and smartphone devices in a truly revolutionary way. Recognising the impact this will have on the financial services industry, SunGard, one of the world’s leading software and technology services companies, has teamed up with Intel and Microsoft to optimise its IntelliMatch Operational Control solution for the Windows 8 platform.
IntelliMatch Operational Control is an enterprise-wide solution that streamlines and automates processes for reconciliation, exception management and payment investigation, helping banks and brokers minimise costs and reduce risk exposure.
“This project started with us turning to Microsoft and Intel to determine what we wanted to achieve in the tablet space,” said Don Tyson, CTO at SunGard. “We worked very closely with Intel and Microsoft design partner Fractal Ink to determine the key features we wanted to include in the app and how we wanted it to be presented. Intel has already been demonstrating the app and we’ve received really good feedback. From a visual stimulation perspective in particular, it’s going down really well. We expect it to really resonate with our users.”
By delivering the solution as an app for Windows 8, SunGard is enabling financial managers to monitor and analyse accounting, trading, transactional and reconciliation activities in an intuitive manner on a tablet device from wherever they are. With its Windows 8 optimised interface, complete with user-friendly dashboards, users can access the crucial information they need with the touch of a finger. They can view any part of the reconciliation process in near real time, monitor alerts and access account information, giving them a greater level of agility and flexibility for fast decision making on the go. As a result of Windows 8’s enterprise-grade security features, users can be assured that the solution meets all the requirements that they would expect to have when dealing with sensitive, mission-critical information.
“As alerts occur within the system, we have the ability to alert end users in a timely fashion,” said Richard Chapman, director of product management, operations for banking at SunGard. “With both tablet and browser based apps and web client interaction, the solution can be accessed anywhere at anytime without compromising security.”
Microsoft and Intel have also worked together to ensure a great Windows 8 experience on Intel-based systems. Intel Ultrabook devices and Intel-based tablets running Windows 8 provide a new perspective on how information can be consumed and accessed. These devices address a user’s desire for choice, style and individualism while maintaining enterprise-grade IT control. Ultrabook devices, convertibles and tablets based on both Intel Core and Intel Atom provide consumers and enterprise customers with the choice of different price points, performance, security, manageability and form factors.
