UPEK integrates with Windows

UPEK will support solutions embedded in future Windows 7 notebooks

UPEK, a global leader in biometric fingerprint security solutions, has been working closely with Microsoft to integrate its biometric hardware and Protector Suite software with the new Windows Biometric Framework included in Windows 7.

“Microsoft’s direct support for biometrics within the Windows operating system further demonstrates the broad adoption and support for fingerprint biometrics as both a very secure and convenient way to authenticate in Windows,” said Rob Blau, UPEK’s vice president of development.

UPEK will support solutions embedded in future Windows 7 notebooks, as well as existing UPEK enabled notebooks and Eikon USB peripherals that will support Windows 7. UPEK believes the Windows Biometric Framework will drive the adoption of fingerprint biometrics among Windows users and will increase the number of applications making use of biometric technology.
