Visteon innovates with social cloud
7 December 2012
Visteon is applying Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s 3DSwYm social application on the cloud to its recently unveiled e-Bee vehicle concept.
According to the company, the 3D platform increased efficiency and reduced early developmental costs, and was used to identify key suppliers and partners, as well as develop a strategic customer base.
This (3DswYm) enables them to visualise the design as it evolves, leading to more effective interactions and faster product development
Tim Yerdon, Visteon 3DSwYm brings a social element that allows ideas to be shared and developed informatively, with the cloud solution sharing data and information easily and accessibly.
The 'experience and demonstrate' capabilities of a socially shared 3D environment allow Visteon to show its first design in seconds instead of weeks. Additionally, The company was also able to solicit real-time project feedback from customers, joint venture partners, and suppliers.
The e-Bee project saw Visteon departments connect with venture partners from across the globe.
“Transforming our current creation environment was one of the primary goals of the e-Bee project,” said Tim Yerdon, global director innovation and design, Visteon. “Visteon designers in multiple regions can now work as if they were all in the same room, speaking the same language of 3D. This (3DswYm) enables them to visualise the design as it evolves, leading to more effective interactions and faster product development.”
The global automotive supplier previiously used 3DswYm to develop a successful project that helped the company develop concepts for a demonstration vehicle in the areas of climate, electronics and interior.
