Wincor Nixdorf wins over Al Soor Fuel Company

The Al Soor Fuel Company of Kuwait has decided to run its entire network of service stations on the Namos software platform from Wincor Nixdorf.

Wincor Nixdorf and Diyar United Company, its local partner in Kuwait, are to map all business processes of the fuel company, from the service station POS terminal to the head office. In addition to the installation of the Namos software platform, Wincor Nixdorf and Diyar United will be responsible for servicing all installed systems for a three-year period. The first pilot installations are scheduled for February 2008, to be followed by the rollout of the entire system.

“With Al Soor, we will implement our comprehensive i-Service Station software platform, which has been extended with back-office and head-office components,” said Horst von Wels, director of service stations international at Wincor Nixdorf.

The software platform consists of the main components Namos compact POS, Namos retail BOS and Namos central HOS. The platform covers all business processes of modern service station networks, from the individual service station and its systems, up to the head office.

With a complete solution portfolio that now includes its own back-office and head-office components, Wincor Nixdorf has closed a gap between the POS terminals and the ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems of the oil company.

The development of the back-office and head-office components was prompted in large part by customers who sought tailored software solutions to meet their specific needs. “The market is full of comprehensive back-office and head-office solutions, but they are frequently overdeveloped,” said von Wels. “That’s why we focused on key functions when we developed both of our new software components.”

The development team focused on simple integration and easy usage to keep the total cost of ownership as low as possible. Both applications are based on the newest Microsoft platforms and technologies and use industry standards such as SQL Server, .NET and XML.

“Our objective is to utilise best of breed technologies to drive efficiencies and productivity in our operations,” said Tareq Al Madani, general manager of development and marketing at Al Soor. “We are raising the technology standard for the operations of our company with a streamlined solution portfolio that will benefit Al Soor and our customers for many years to come. In addition it provides us the flexibility to expand and easily adapt to future requirements.”
