Nadine Kania, ClincALL “We now have the most modern and diverse system due to the decision to equip the range of bedside terminals jointly with Microsoft – thanks to Windows 8,” said Nadine Kania, member of management at ClinicALL. “The almost unlimited possibilities of the new software provide the patient and the hospital with a completely new perspective of information exchange. At the same time, the new operating system offers the best conditions for a smooth continuous operation and maximum compatibility, for example, for the connection to their internal hospital information systems.”
Using this solution a patient can access the internet, television and other media directly at their bedside via a Windows 8 multi-touch screen computer with a full HD display. The solution also offers the hospital many options to manage and share information with the patient – up to a full integration into the existing hospital information system and clinical processes like ward round and medication.
“Windows 8 is ideally suited for touch screens due to its clear design. In addition, patients can enjoy a new generation of devices as well as user experiences,” said Kania. “Furthermore, we will also use Microsoft Lync and SharePoint. This is an important contribution to the close communication between patients and staff, as well as the process optimization in hospital operations.”
ClincALL’s solution allows for all personal data to be controlled by the patient. The terminals are equipped with a multi-level safety system for medical and patient-related data, including separate access permissions for different user groups such as patients, doctors and care services, in particular, by means of RFID, smart card and magnetic card.
Microsoft has been committed to the healthcare industry worldwide for over 14 years. “The close cooperation with our partners is essential for our strategy. They are the engine and key for innovation,” said Christian Köth, manager of Healthcare at Microsoft Germany. “We are therefore particularly pleased when partners use the latest Microsoft technologies to provide information, quality, transparency and convenience also directly at the patient's bedside.”
